What is Parliament? Assembly and Year 6 workshop

Lesson: British Values

Class: Year 3 Year: 2018 - 2019

On Wednesday 16th January, Rachel Dodgson, who works for Parliament's Education Programme, came into school.  In a really interesting assembly she told junior children all about how our local MP is elected, what he does and how we are each represented in Parliament.  We learnt what happens in the House of Commons and in the House of Lords and how bills are passed and become law.  We looked at some laws that impact on our eveyday lives.

Year 6 children then learnt how political parties campaign, wrote their own manifestos and held an election.  Our voting resulted in a landslide victory for the Weaver Vale Wildlife Party and their ideas to further develop the wild area at school.
