Parent Governor Election
NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR ONE PARENT GOVERNOR
One parent governor is needed on the Governing Body of Charles Darwin Community
Primary School. Any parent may stand for election as a parent governor by using the
correct nomination form.
If more than one parent is nominated, there will be an election. Candidates may, therefore,
wish to provide a statement of not more than 250 words, which will be sent to parents
with the ballot papers. Please email your statement to sbm@charlesdarwin.cheshire.sch.uk
Nominations should be submitted on the official school nomination paper, addressed to Mr.
Adam Croft, who is the Returning Officer for the election. The last date on which
nominations will be accepted is Friday 18th June 2021.
A NOMINATION FORM AND INFORMATION LEAFLET HAS BEEN SENT TO ALL FAMILILES.

Eligibility for participation in the election of Parent Governors:-
All parents of or those with parental responsibility for, registered Charles Darwin pupils
are entitled:-
a) to stand for election, if properly nominated.
b) to nominate candidates for election.
(A candidate must agree to being nominated and each nomination must be supported by a
proposer and seconder, one of whom may be the husband, wife or partner of the
candidate).
c) to vote in the election. (Each parent eligible to vote is entitled to one vote per
vacancy, irrespective of how many children at the school).
If the nominations are not contested, the result will be declared on Friday 18th June 2021.
- Voting papers, in the event of a contested election, will be sent to parents, no later than,
Wednesday 23rd June 2021
- Completed voting papers are to be returned to school by, no later than, 9.15am on
Wednesday 30th June
- Votes will be counted on Wednesday 30th June 2021 at 9.30am. Candidates, when they are
known, will be informed about the counting procedure.
- Result available on Thursday 1st July 2021.
The role carries real responsibility and governors must be willing to undergo training, attend
several meetings, each year, and be prepared for reading papers, in readiness for meetings.
